Fatality Hit and Run Suspect Extradited, Booked in North Branford

James William Black was extradited from Florida back to Connecticut on April 23 by the North Branford Police Department (NBPD) for an outstanding warrant in relation to the hit and run fatal motor vehicle accident which resulted in the death of North Branford resident David Horbal on March 28 on Foxon Road.

Black was booked and processed at NBPD for the charges of Manslaughter 1st degree, Evading Responsibility Resulting in Death, and Tampering with Evidence. He is currently held on a $400,000 court set bond and will appear in court in New Haven on April 24.

We are thankful for our partners from the New Haven State's Attorney's Office, the Connecticut State Police and Tampa International Airport Police for their assistance during this process. We are especially thankful for the assistance, hospitality, and professionalism of the Highlands County Sheriff's Office [Florida] - Sheriff Paul Blackman.
