04/24/2024 04:50 PMBranford’s Bravest and Branford’s Finest will go to bat for Branford Counseling and Community Services (BCCS) during a charity softball game that hopes to draw a crowd of community support on Saturday, May 18, at Foote Memorial Park, with the first pitch at 1 p.m.
BCCS is hosting the Branford Fire Department vs. Branford Police Department charity softball game to celebrate Mental Health Awareness Month in May. All proceeds benefit the BCCS Basic Needs Fund. Food and an ice cream truck will be at the site to add to this family fun event.
BCCS employs a full-time licensed clinical social worker that works exclusively with Branford police, responding in real-time to mental health-related calls with the police and first responders. BCCS also offers community services including the Branford Youth Service Bureau, the Employee Assistance Program, drug and alcohol prevention programs, school mentoring programs, and outreach discussions with Army Reserve members, focusing on PTSD and depression.
BCCS is a municipally-funded behavioral health and social services agency, providing services to adults and children residing in Branford. Licensed by the Connecticut Department of Public Health, clinical services are provided by licensed professionals. BCCS is a Medicare and Medicaid provider and most commercial health plans are accepted. BCCS will work to obtain insurance with clients who do not have health insurance.
