On March 28, the New Haven Police Department contacted the East Haven Public Safety dispatch center to advise that it had received an email from an unidentified sender claiming that a bomb was planted at the Planet Fitness located at 836 Foxon Road in East Haven. Planet Fitness, surrounding businesses, and houses were evacuated until the New Haven Police bomb squad arrived to sweep the building. It was determined that the threat was unfounded.
The East Haven Police Department stated that it believes the East Haven Planet Fitness location was one of many Planet Fitness locations in the area that was affected by the bomb threat.
This incident remains under investigation.
