Let’s Get Up to Something Good

It’s time to strike up the band and give a resounding “Hip hip hooray!” for the volunteers who are showing up and doing something good throughout Middlesex County. These compassionate and dedicated individuals are truly the life blood of our community. They are vital to all non-profit organizations, including the Community Foundation of Middlesex County (CFMC). Whether they are serving on boards and committees, delivering food and meals to local pantries, or fielding questions and helping out at front desks everywhere, they are a key reason why our local non-profits are able to provide essential programs for our neighbors and friends. April is National Volunteer Month, and we are leading a round of applause while shining a bright light on all the extraordinary people who are making great things happen throughout the year.

Quite simply, volunteers are the engines that make our non-profits run. They lend their time, talent, and voice to meet both critical needs and everyday necessities that make a difference where they live, work, or play. They are from all walks of life, with diverse interests and skills. They inspire us to serve by “showing up” to support a cause that they are passionate about. With hundreds of local groups and organizations in need of volunteers, there is a meaningful role for everyone in helping our community thrive.

Book lover? See what’s up at your local library. Tree fanatic? Lend a hand through your local land trust or conservation group. Down to earth? Volunteer at a community food garden. Cat cuddler? Spend some time at a local rescue organization. Party planner? Make new friends and help raise funds while having fun at events. The possibilities are endless, and the impact is life changing—just by showing up.

The next time you see a community volunteer in action, take a moment to thank them for their service. Ask them about their work and community connection. You may find out about an organization or need that you never knew existed. Consider lending your time and talents to help support a cause that matters to you. At the CFMC, we appreciate all the individuals, businesses, and local groups who give back through the community foundation in support of non-profit programs in all areas of interest, including those related to animal welfare, civic improvements, community enrichment, education, the environment, health, recreation, and social services. Thank you for showing up and making great things happen throughout Middlesex County every day in a myriad of ways.

CFMC is proud to be accredited with Community Foundations National Standards, the nation's highest and most rigorous standard for philanthropic excellence. We invite you to learn how you can put your passion into action. Call us at 860-347-0025, or visit us online at MiddlesexCountyCF.org.
