Press Release from Connecticut General Assembly

On March 13, House Republican Leader Vincent Candelora was recognized as a “Legislative Champion” by the state’s Council of Developmental Services—a panel comprised of volunteer citizen advocates for residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.

In a ceremony held inside the State Capitol building, council members hailed last session's passage of H.B. 5001, which is legislation that addresses wait lists for Medicaid waiver programs, while also tackling topics such as housing, transportation, employment, and education.

Candelora was joined by fellow award winners in Speaker of the House Matt Ritter, Majority Leader Jason Rojas, and State Representative Lucy Dathan. Together, the collection of Republican and Democrat lawmakers discussed the bipartisan work that was done to win unanimous approval of the bill last year.

Candelora represents the 86th House District serving residents of North Branford, Guilford, East Haven, and Durham.
