Press Release from North Haven Lions Club

At the recent Connecticut Lions Mid-Winter Conference, Jane Leamon from the North Haven Leos Club was chosen as The Leo of the Year.

Leamon was the founder of the North Haven Leo Club in 2021. She recruited and organized the original 14 charter members of the club—which was the first Leo Club in North Haven's history—and was elected as its president for the 2021-’22 year. Leamon has been the chair of several service projects and fundraising projects for the North Haven Leo Club. Under Leamon’s leadership, the club provided 556 hours of service in the first year, and she led projects that included a toy drive and bake sale for the Yale Pediatric Hospital, collecting 30 toys and $250. Leamon also initiated a clean-up of five public spaces in North Haven for Earth Day in 2022, in addition to creating and running an eco-friendly, can-tab recycled bracelets sale that raised $315 for Save the Children Ukraine efforts.

Leamon was a member of the National Honor Society, won the Salve Regina Book Award for her academic excellence in English, was on the honor roll or high honor roll each quarter in high school, and was previously a Spanish Honor Society member. She was also honored with a Beacon Award by Shore Publishing in 2022.

After graduating from North Haven High School and ACES Educational Center for the Arts in June 2023, Leamon is now attending Wheaton College, where she is studying classic literature with an eye toward law school.
