02/02/2024 01:32 PMThe Essex Garden Club is pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for 2024 college scholarships.
Eligible applicants include high school seniors and undergraduate or graduate college students who are residents of Centerbrook, Essex, or Ivoryton and are pursuing studies related to the environment in an accredited two-year or four-year college program.
Prior-year recipients are also encouraged to apply.
The Essex Garden Club is dedicated to supporting education and encouraging students to pursue careers that will have a long-term impact on protecting our environment. Environmental studies may include earth and environmental science, ecology, environmental engineering, environmental humanities, environmental justice, environmental law and public policy, environmental toxicology, forestry, geology, horticulture, renewable energy, or urban ecology. Closely related subjects may also apply, including agriculture, natural resources, biology, land conservation, landscape design, and nursery management. Applicants in any field of study or intended major may also apply, as long as the student has a demonstrated commitment to contributing to preserving and enhancing the environment and intends to use their educational experience to further develop that commitment. The Essex Garden Club, through its scholarship program, promotes and supports educational experiences to help the next generation appreciate and preserve our environment.
Application forms and further details are available at essexgardenclubct.org and the Essex and Ivoryton libraries. The deadline for receipt of completed applications is April 21.
