Press release from North Branford High School

Four North Branford High School (NBHS) seniors were nominated by school academic departments for the North Branford Rotary Student of the Month recognition program in January. Students and their families will be attending an upcoming North Branford rotary dinner meeting, at which each of the students will be recognized as a Student of the Month.

The students are Patricia Mone, English; Sienna Brigance, science; Adeline Rish, music; and Giana Nuzzo, art. The following content was provided by the individual academic departments for their respective student.

Patricia Mone, English: Mone took an early college experience creative writing class during the current semester, earning her dual credit at NBHS and Southern Connecticut State University. Throughout the semester, she has consistently strived to make her poetry and fiction writing as detailed and polished as it could be, while writing about a wide variety of topics. Her writing is both poignant and humorous, qualities that are difficult to achieve in an introductory creative writing course. Mone also consistently gave thoughtful feedback to her peers on their writing during poem and story workshops.

Sienna Brigance, science: The NBHS Science Department would like to congratulate Sienna Brigance on her rotary award. Brigance transferred to NBHS in her sophomore year. As a senior, she is currently taking Advanced Placement (AP) biology and honors chemistry and continues to excel in her science coursework. Brigance exhibits excellent problem-solving skills and a drive to succeed. Her AP biology teacher, Meghann Redman, calls her an "inquisitive, highly driven student who exhibits an interest and passion for all aspects of science every day in class."

Adeline Rish, music: As both a representative of the instrumental and the choral program, Rish has achieved some of the highest accolades available to musicians in high school, such as acceptance to the Shoreline, Regional, and All-State music festivals. Rish has also displayed a high level of musical perseverance by auditioning and being accepted to the NBHS chamber choir program during her first year of choir in her senior year. Her musicianship and passion for the arts are apparent.

Giana Nuzzo, art: Over the past four years, Nuzzo has taken many art classes and has excelled in every one. She is diligent, creative, and puts her all into everything that she does. This year in particular, Nuzzo took ceramics, and the pieces that she created were outstanding. She has been an inspiration to other students and sets the bar high for herself.
