North Branford Opens Warming Centers Due to Severe Cold


Town’s Two Public Libraries Open as Warming Centers

January 18, 2024: The State of Connecticut is activating its Severe Cold Weather Protocol through noon on Monday, Jan. 22 as significantly cold temperatures impact the state.

Residents are urged to take care and remain sheltered during this anticipated extreme temperature drop.

In consideration of the activation of the protocol, North Branford will be opening warming stations for residents in need during this period at the following locations: Atwater Memorial Library, 1720 Foxon Road, North Branford; and Edward Smith Library, 3 Old Post Road, Northford.

The main entrances at both locations will remain open after 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, through Monday, Jan. 22 at 8 p.m. Those needing warming shelter will be able to access the main entrance, community rooms and bathrooms at any point during this period.

Residents can also call 2-1-1 to locate additional sheltering options near them.
