Essex Winter Series Awarded ‘Supporting Arts’ Grant Funding

With the giving season in full swing, the state’s Department of Economic and Community Development announced the recipients of the 2024 Supporting Arts Grants given through the Connecticut Office of the Arts, which also receives support from the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency. Essex Winter Series (EWS) is grateful to once again be one of the 232 recipients of grants totaling more than $1 million. For the upcoming year, the $3,271 amount received by EWS will help support our season programming, which touches the lives of so many who attend our world-class classical and jazz concerts each year.

This funding, which provides the grantee the flexibility to use the funds where most needed, is a boon for the Essex Winter Series and other nonprofits. For EWS, our goal for 47 years has been to bring the finest music to our community … not just a small sector but the greater community. Susan Guernsey, President of the Essex Winter Series Board of Trustees, states, "This funding will help our organization to continue its mission and work to expand our enrichment to a wider audience."

Essex Winter Series is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to bring the finest music in live performance during the winter months to the widest and most culturally, economically, and socially diverse audience possible in the Connecticut River Valley and Shoreline Region for purposes of cultivating its appreciation through concerts and educational outreach.
