NBHS Inducts 16 into World Language Honor Societies

On Nov. 20, 16 North Branford High School (NBHS) students were inducted into an honor society associated with a world language as a result of their academic achievement over a two-year period. The induction ceremony was held in the North Branford Auditorium.

Twelve students have met or exceeded the admission standards for acceptance into the Spanish Honor Society, and four have met or exceeded the criteria associated with admission for acceptance into the Italian Honor Society.

NBHS Spanish Honor Society 2023-’24 inductees are Bree Aiken, Alyssa Bliven, Sienna Brigance, Justin Carusone, Chase Cioffi-Smith, Tyler Connelly, Nico Falcigno, Tyler Heffernan, Olivia Pienkosz, Jacob Poston, Emma Priess, and Kyle Sudusky.

NBHS Italian Honor Society 2023-’24 inductees are Payton DePino, Alyssa Marino, Dayton Kamienski, and Lauren Vitarisi.

Officers for 2023-’24 are president Adi Rish, co-vice presidents Elizabeth Sigal and Callie Holzer, and secretary Patricia Mone.

The Honor Society for Spanish originated in 1953 and was founded by the American Association of Teachers. The Honor Society for Italian was also started by the American Association of Teachers and was founded in 1924.

NBHS World Language teacher Jennifer McGrath serves as Faculty Advisor for both organizations. The NBHS World Language department chair is Jennifer Tzetzo.

The induction ceremony took place on Nov. 20 in the North Branford auditorium.
