Press release from VFW 766 Auxiliary Guilford

The VFW 7666 Auxiliary Guilford Honor Flight CT fundraiser was held on April 21 and proved an overwhelming success. On behalf of its members, the VFW Auxiliary thanks the many people who helped make the event a success for the veterans who will enjoy the benefits of Honor Flight CT.

Honor Flight CT allows World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War veterans to take a free, one-day flight to Washington D.C. to visit the war memorials. It is based on an application basis. The goal of the benefit was to raise money to have a veteran’s flight paid for at a cost of $350 per veteran. The VFW Auxiliary is pleased to say that its ticket sales and donations raised more than $2,100 for this cause.

The VFW Auxiliary thanks John Saville Entertainment for donating his DJ services that evening. The Auxiliary also extends its thanks to its item raffle prize donators—Bishop’s Orchards, Page Hardware, Bonafide Pets, Blooms on Boone, and Frank’s Package Store—as well as all of the individuals who made baskets and donated their time to make the evening a success. This raffle money benefited the Auxiliary to help the organization continue its programs for veterans.

The Auxiliary also sends out a very special thank you to VFW 10589 Canterbury, which attended the event that evening and donated $2,000 to Honor Flight CT; in addition to Camputaro & Son Excavating, Inc., Sachem Capital, and other individuals for the additional monetary donations that added up to a total of $4,200 for Honor Flight CT.

On May 11, Kim Casey from Honor Flight CT was presented with checks totaling $4,200 from 7666 Auxiliary Guilford president Kathie Fleischauer.
