The Westbrook Foundation awarded $109,934 to community organizations during its spring grants cycle. The Westbrook Foundation supported nine community projects in its spring grants cycle. The spring 2023 grants, their recipients, and projects include: $3,000 to A Little Compassion, Inc. to support an artistic mentorship program that matches Westbrook neurodiverse young adults with Westbrook artists and mentors to create, display, and sell their handmade goods; $2,500 to High Hopes Therapeutic Riding, Inc to provide financial assistance for Westbrook youth and adults to participate in a range of equine-assisted services; and $27,914.94 to Safe Harbor, Inc. for facility improvements at the affordable-housing development.
Other grants for supported projects include: $5,000 to SARAH, Inc. to support equestrian therapy classes for adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities at High Hopes Therapeutic Riding, Inc.; $17,935 to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church to support the renovation of the church’s undercroft; and $3,672.98 to the Westbrook Conservation Commission to replace the four exhibit signs at the Mulvey Riverfront.
Additional grants include $2,227 to Westbrook Emergency Management to purchase a cellular weather station to be used by all emergency service providers in town; $43,259.08 to Westbrook High School to support four welding stations for the high school’s upgraded and expanded welding lab as part of the school’s career readiness initiative; and $4,425 to Westbrook Little League to purchase safety equipment.
