Press Release, Branford Land Trust

The Branford Land Trust (BLT) invites all to its 2023 Annual Meeting on Monday, May 15 beginning at 6 p.m. at the Blackstone Memorial Library. There will be a brief meeting including the election of incoming directors, followed by “Species on the Move: Understanding and Managing Invasive Plant Species,” a presentation by professor Chad Jones.

Chad Jones is an associate professor of botany and environmental studies at Connecticut College. His research is focused on plants moving to new areas, including both native species colonizing after disturbances and invasive species. His current research is focused on understanding patterns of invasive plants species spread in forests, which were long thought to be resistant to invasion. Professor Jones has also served as the Faculty Director of Sustainability at Connecticut College and is broadly interested in efforts to develop a more sustainable society.

The BLT hopes you will come to this event, its first in-person annual meeting since 2019. There will be time to meet and mingle — enjoy light snacks — following the program. It is free and open to the public, and will be held in the auditorium of the Blackstone Memorial Library, 758 Main Street, Branford.
