Branford Elks Lodge #1939 is offering a $1,500 scholarship to a graduating student who has been actively involved in service to their community.
To be eligible, applicants must be Branford residents, or members of the family of a Branford Elk in good standing, and graduating from high school this calendar year.
To apply, you need to submit a copy of your transcript, a letter of recommendation and an essay describing what your involvement in your community has been.
Letters of recommendation should be from an individual familiar with the work described in your essay. Recommendations from teachers describing academic achievement do not carry the weight of a recommendation from an individual with firsthand knowledge of your contributions to the community.
Essays should be between 500 to 1,000 words in length. They should be well-written, succinct and focused on your work in the community, not what you have accomplished in the classroom.
