Rep. Comey Sponsors Essay Contest to Celebrate Women’s History Month

Press Release, CT General Assembly House Democrats

On February 27, State Representative Robin Comey (D-Branford) announced an essay contest she is sponsoring for Branford students in grades 5-8 to celebrate Women's History Month.

This essay contest will provide an opportunity for students to recognize and reflect on women's achievements and how they have positively impacted our history.

"I am excited to read our middle school students' unique perspectives and reflect on what inspires them as we celebrate Women’s History Month in March," said Rep. Comey. "I am confident that our youth will capture the essence of influential women in history, and I can't wait to start reviewing essays. I encourage all students in grade 5-8 to send in an entry for a chance to get a special recognition from the state."

Students may choose from one of the following essay prompts:

· Who is the most influential woman in your life today and why?

· Who is your favorite woman in history and why?

Please respond in 200 words or less. Participating students must submit their essay by Friday, March 24, 2023. Students can submit their essays to Grady.Brockway@cga.ct.gov – using the subject line, "Branford Essay Contest."

Rep. Comey is Assistant Majority Whip and a member of the Committee on Children, Education and Human Services Committees.
