Press Release, Branford Rotary

The Branford Rotary Club has been very busy the last few months serving its community.

In November, the Rotary hosted a Veteran’s Luncheon and served over 70 veterans a delicious Thanksgiving Dinner. They participated in the Liberty Bank Fundraiser and presented over $8,000 to the Branford Food Pantry, the Community Dining Room, Feed Branford Kids, and the Branford Counseling and Community Services. The Rotary also participated in the annual Thanksgiving Day Road Race and decorated a float for the Branford Holiday Parade. The service didn’t stop there as Christmas trees were installed at Connecticut Hospice by Rotarians for their annual Tree Lighting ceremony, as well as a donation to the cause.

December turned out to be another busy month for the Branford Rotary and their Rotarians, who hosted the annual Senior Christmas Dinner for 100 seniors. Entertainment by Branford High School’s MusicMakers was provided, and Santa surprised all the guests with gifts. With a shortage of bell-ringers, the Branford Rotarians stepped in to help the Salvation Army by volunteering at local stores, and raised over $2,500 for the Salvation Army.

The service didn’t stop there. Our Rotarian Susan Marlatt and Branford Rotary Scholarship recipient Carter Shannon composed a 70-page, full-color cookbook, What’s for Dinner, with the help of Branford restaurants that featured recipes with food from the Branford’s Food Pantry. The club sponsored the book and donated copies to the Food Pantry to give to families. It was recently featured on a segment on Channel 8 News.

Branford Rotary Club is looking for new members. We ask you to join us at one of our meetings to see what the Branford Rotary is all about.
