Help Orchard House ‘Be a Santa to a Senior’

By being a “Santa to a Senior,” community members can help make this season special for shoreline area seniors who rely on assistance from non-profit Orchard House Adult Medical Day Care.

Program organizer an Orchard House Care Partner Natalia Imperato said community response is essential to making this program a success.

“Our goal is to be able to raise enough money to get everyone winter clothes to help them make it safely through the cold season. Hopefully we will be able to do more than just that, but that is the least of what we are looking to do,” said Imperato.

The staff has also gathered a wish list of items from dozens of senior clients that run the gamut from warm winter coats and clothing to “anything fishing,” noise-canceling earbuds, audio books and “anything musical.” Donors may also “adopt” a senior to provide gifts, said Imperato. Photos of the full list are posted at the Orchard House Facebook page.

Donations of any amount can be sent by check to Orchard House Adult Medical Day Center, 421 Shore Drive, Branford CT 06405. Cash donations are also being accepted at the facility, as well as donations sent via Venmo and Paypal (scan the QR codes on the flyer posted at TheOrchardHouseBranford Facebook page). Donations and/or gifts may be dropped off at Orchard House Monday - Friday between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Imperato also notes this year’s program will wrap up with two holiday parties where sponsors are invited to enjoy the holiday spirit as seniors unwrap their gifts at Orchard House, located in Short Beach. The festivities will include live music, a comedian host and holiday treats. Events are scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 22 and Friday Dec. 23 from 12:30 to 2:15 p.m. To attend, please RSVP by calling (203) 640-2889.
