The coronavirus crisis has nearly halted the local economy — including media advertising. That means local, independent news organizations such as ours must fight for our own survival while continuing to provide critical news and information as a public service during this unprecedented situation. If you believe local reporting is important and you're able to lend support during this pandemic, click here for info on making a tax-deductible donation.

Voters heading to the polls in Deep River on Tuesday, Nov. 5 will select candidates for municipal office. While many of the positions are unchallenged, there are competitive races for the boards of Selectman and Finance.
First Selectman Angus McDonald (D) is facing a challenge from petitioning candidate Augusto “Gus” Lucarelli. The unsuccessful candidate in that race will compete for a spot on the Board of Selectmen with incumbent selectmen Duane Gates (D) and James Olson (R).
The three candidates for the two open seats for Board of Finance six-year term are incumbents Lori Guerette (D) and Russell Marth (D) and Republican Carol Hanover.
Profiles of all candidates who’ve chosen to participate are in our Online Voters Guide*, along with all the Courier’s elections coverage and political letters, can be found at www.zip06.com/election.
Polls open from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the Deep River Public Library Community Room, 150 Main Street. For more information, call the Town Clerk at 860-526-6024.
