A Killingworth man is under arrest on attempted murder charges after he stabbed a female member of his family early on Monday morning.
Connecticut State Police were called to Parker Hill Road in Killingworth at 7:52 a.m. on Monday, July 22 after receiving the report of a domestic disturbance. The victim called 911 to report she had been stabbed by a family member following an argument. Her assailant then fled the home on foot.
When officers from Westbrook's Troop F barracks arrived, they found the victim suffering from stab wounds to the lower back and neck. The victim was transported by ambulance to Yale New Haven Hospital for the treatment of serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Police located the accused family member, identified as Paul Karam, 18, hiding in the woods behind the home. The knife used in the attack was also recovered.
Karam was arrested and taken into custody after being transported to an area hospital for a mental health evaluation.
He was charged with criminal attempt to commit murder, assault in the first degree, and reckless endangerment in the first degree. Karam was held on a $250,000 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned in Middletown Superior Court on Tuesday, July 23.
