The coronavirus crisis has nearly halted the local economy — including media advertising. That means local, independent news organizations such as ours must fight for our own survival while continuing to provide critical news and information as a public service during this unprecedented situation. A new pizza restaurant is expected to open in the Winthrop section of Deep River.
According to Ron Lyman, CCIM, CEO of Lyman Real Estate, the owners of AJ's Pizza have signed a five-year lease for one of three retail spaces at 497 Winthrop Road, also known as Route 80. The retail plaza was previously home to Wade's Country Store which closed on Dec. 30, 2017. Uncle Fred's Comics currently fills one of the storefronts and celebrated its grand opening on Jan. 26.
AJ's Pizza is owned by Manuel M. and Robinson Rojas of New Haven, and the 1,693 square-foot restaurant is also expected to sell groceries and lottery tickets.
