Awards and Recognitions

John Mathers, general manager of the Madison Beach Hotel, was named Leader of the Year in the 2018 Connecticut Governor’s Tourism Awards. Mathers was one six individuals and organizations recognized their outstanding contributions to Connecticut’s $14.7 billion tourism industry. Mathers has been general manager of Madison Beach Hotel since it opened in 2012. Under his leadership, the hotel was awarded two of the industry’s highest honors: AAA’s 4 Diamond Rating and Hilton Hotel’s prestigious “Connie Award.” As a member of the Madison and Greater New Haven Chambers of Commerce, Mathers has cultivated professional partnerships that have driven international travel to Madison in particular, and Connecticut in general.

Sean Rotermund, founder, president, and CEO of Madison-based Clarity Software Solutions, Inc., was recently selected as a finalist for Entrepreneur of the Year in the New York Region. The program recognizes entrepreneurs who demonstrate excellence and extraordinary success in areas such as financial performance, innovation and commitment to their businesses and communities.

Additions and Promotions

John Marriott of Killingworth has been named chief executive officer of SoftScience. Marriott brings more than 23 years of experience in operations management, specializing in early stage and startup companies, e-commerce and digital marketing strategies, event management and production, business plan development, financial modeling and analytics. Since 2015, Marriott has held various leadership positions at SoftScience, including chief marketing officer, chief financial officer and chief digital officer. In addition to his military career in the U.S. Army, Marriott has served as chief analytics officer for Source Interlink Media and spent more than a decade with Motor Trend, overseeing production of more than 200 consumer shows and events. He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, and graduated with distinction from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

Mark Stanton is the new cantor-educator at Temple Beth Tikvah in Madison. He joins Rabbi Stacy Offner as a full-time member of the clergy team. Stanton grew up in Flushing, Queens, and received his bachelor of music degree in 1993 at the University of Hartford’s Hartt School of Music. He was ordained as a cantor in 2004 at the Academy for Jewish Religion and has since served as the full-time cantor of Congregation Beth Emeth in Wilmington, Delaware. He has worked closely with the rabbi, religious school director, and staff of his synagogue to create innovative and exciting spiritual, musical, and learning experiences for congregants of all ages, and he brought those same skills to running the B’nei Mitzvah program. He has a love of programming for children, serving as visiting faculty at Jewish summer camps for many years. His passion for drama and choral music are evident in events he fostered at his synagogue and at camp.

Madison resident Jennifer Gregoretti has affiliated with the Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage office in Madison. As a sales associate, Gregoretti will provide residential real estate services in Madison as well as the surrounding towns.

Appointments

Paul T. Czepiga, CPA, JD of Madison has been reappointed to serve as a member of the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants Advisory Council for the organization’s 2018-’19 activity year, representing the Trust, Estate, and Gift Taxation Interest Group as its chair. Czepiga is a principal in the law firm of Czepiga Daly Pope & Perri, LLC with offices in Berlin, Madison, Simsbury, New Milford, ad South Windsor. He holds a B.S. in accounting from Syracuse University, a, MBA from Northwestern University, and a JD from Syracuse University College of Law.

Dennis W. Cole, CPA of Madison to serve as president-elect for the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants (CTCPA)’ 2018-’19 activity year. Cole is a partner in the public accounting firm of Beers, Hamerman, Cohen & Burger, PC, with offices in New Haven and Fairfield. He holds a B.S. in accounting from Villanova University. Cole has also served the CTCPA as treasurer, Board of Directors member-at-large, Educational Trust Fund chair, Student Outreach and Career Awareness Committee member, and Relations with Colleges and Universities Committee chair. The CTCPA honored him with its Jack Brooks Leadership Award in 2014.
