Harvesting History at Old Saybrook’s Bushnell Farm

The Bushnell Farm in Old Saybrook presented its annual Harvest Home festival on Nov. 4. Attendees got to take part in several seasonal tasks at this 17th century farmstead, including blacksmithing, weaving, wigwam, and making everything from charcoal to cider. Here, Samnel Valle (with an assist from Gary Nolf) gives a traditional hand drill a try while sister Grace Valle watches.
