October 9, 2017: Saint Mary School (SMS) of Branford eighth grader Kelsey Le was one of 11 outstanding Catholic school students from the area to be honored at the 11th Annual Archbishop's Columbus Day Breakfast at Woodwinds in Branford.

In addition to the students being honored, Lieutenant General Ronald S. Coleman of the United States Marine Corps was the day's guest speaker. Net proceeds from this breakfast provide scholarships to students attending Catholic elementary schools in the Greater New Haven area.

Through her hard work and dedication, Le has received the SMS Principal's List every year since fifth grade. She is also president of the SMS student council and a member of SMS Taekwondo Club. Le is also currently working on obtaining a second-degree black belt in Taekwondo with Master Han of World Champion Taekwondo. She is also a passionate pianist, having performed at the Neighborhood Music School in New Haven as well as the SMS Talent Show.
