Suspicious Activity at North Haven Police Department Leads to Chase, Two Arrests
A man and woman are under arrest after police observed their vehicle parked suspiciously in a parking lot designated for police officers' cars.
According to police, a North Haven Police Sergeant observed two occupied vehicles in a parking lot designated for police officers behind the police department at 4 a.m. on Monday, June 12. The officer approached the vehicles, and one took off at a high rate of speed nearly striking several parked police cars and a parking lot island while the second vehicle was detained.
An officer attempted to stop the fleeing vehicle by chasing it down Broadway and onto State Street. The fleeing vehicle had been reported as stolen earlier from a home in New Haven. Once the vehicle reached reckless speeds on State Street the officer terminated pursuit.
The driver and passenger in the detained vehicle claimed they did not know the operator of the stolen vehilce. Officers located narcotics and paraphernalia in the vehicle, and the passenger had an active arrest warrant for failure to appear in court.
Edward Beisel, 26, was charged with a narcotics violation and trespass. Felicia Varriale, 26, was charged with a narcotics violation, trespass, and the failure to appear warrant. Beisel and Varriale are both residents of Branford.
