Hidek to Remain on Police Commissioners

CLINTON

Police Commissioner Lynn Hidek announced her intention to step down from the Board of Police Commissioners in February at the Commission’s Jan. 19 meeting. In recognition of her years on the Commission, the Harbor News named Hidek Person of the Week in the Feb. 2 issue.

One small problem: the day the article was published, Hidek announced that she had changed her mind and will remain on the Commission.

“I was thinking it over, and I felt I wanted to see through some of the programs we have been implementing. I want my voice to be a part of those talks,” Hidek explained.

In particular, Hidek pointed to projects like the justice navigator program, which uses data to provide feedback on any racial disparities in police stops and the department’s CALEA accreditation.

“Those are really important programs, and I want to be a part of it,” Hidek said.

Hidek’s term ends in 2025.
