Deep River Man Arrested, Charged After Assaulting 11-Year-Old

A Deep River man is under arrest after verbally and physically assaulting an 11-year-old boy on Main Street on June 27 shortly after 6 p.m.

Connecticut State Police Troop F received a report from the victim's mother that her son had been assaulted by an adult male while riding his bike. Video of the incident shared with WFSB and circulated on social media shows the man, identified by police as Jameson Chapman, 48, of Winter Avenue, Deep River, interacting with the boy in an expletive laced tirade and telling him to get out of his town. The video also shows Chapman pushing the boy off of his bicycle into the street.

Police arrested Chapman and charged with him breach of peace in the second degree, risk of injury to a child, and assault in the third degree. He was transported to Troop F and held on a $10,000 bond before being transported to Hartford Correctional Center.

Chapman is scheduled to appear in Middletown Superior Court on Monday, July 11.
