Turkington Nominated as GOP Candidate for 36th Assembly District Seat

The Republican Nominating Convention for the state’s 36th District Representative took place on May 17 at the Haddam Firehouse. The 36th District consists of the towns of Chester, Deep River, Essex, and Haddam.

There was one nominee and the convention unanimously endorsed Christopher Turkington to be its candidate for the 36th District representative.

On acceptance, Turkington stated, “To be the 36th’s Republican candidate is truly an honor. The people of Chester, Deep River, Essex, and Haddam have my heartfelt thanks for putting their trust in me. I will not let you down. My desire to work with all the great, hardworking people in our four towns will be a much-needed breath of fresh air in Hartford. I feel we need a change in direction from our current representative [Democrat Christine Palm] and the time to do it is now.

“Parents’ rights; backing police, fire, and ambulance; fiscal accountability, and long-term tax relief are just the beginning point of the issues I want to take the lead on as your next state representative,” he continued.
