Outlook Improving for Clinton Town Beach Vendor Vacancy

Earlier this month, the Parks and Recreation Commission (PRC) announced that there was a possibility of not opening the concession stand at the town beach. It now appears a vendor has been found.

At the April 27 Town Council meeting Town Manager Karl Kilduff said that he had recommended several possible vendors to the Parks and Recreation Department and that one of the vendors had expressed an interest in running the stand.

Kilduff said that the vendor contract would be on the next council meeting agenda, scheduled for Wednesday, May 4.

Earlier this year, the PRC announced that Hog Wild, after two years of running the beach concession stand, would not return for summer 2022, citing the high utility cost.

On April 12, PRC Chair Joe Schettino said that he would to ask the Town Council and Kilduff to agree to charge no fees to anyone interested in running the stand and to agree that the town cover all utilities for the stand besides propane.

Schettino also wanted the town to put out a request for proposal for possible vendors and cautioned, “If we don’t get someone in place by the first or second week May, I say we close it down for the year.”
