04/13/2022 08:23 AMThose looking to redecorate after some spring cleaning may want to head to the Henry Carter Hull Library Outdoor Spring Craft Fair on Saturday, April 23 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to browse a variety of wares from local vendors.
The event supports local vendors who sell handcrafted items like garden trellises, fiber arts, planters, jewelry, home décor, desserts, kitchen supplies, pet gifts, woodworking, and more. In the event of inclement weather, a makeup date has been set for Saturday, April 30.
The library has held the annual fair for several years but had to cancel the event in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Usually, the event is held in the community room but in 2021 the library moved the fair outside, a move that was very well received, according to Sarah Borgnis-Tobin, the adult programming coordinator at the Henry Carter Hull Library.
“We were please to host our first outdoor craft fair in April of 2021 and it was such a success that we held another craft fair in September at the request of the vendors. Both events were well attended and a lot of fun,” said Borgnis-Tobin. “Money raised by vendor fees goes to support and sustain library programs for community members of all ages.”
In fact, the move to the outside went so well that organizers brought back the format for 2022.
“After a fruitful first outdoor event, we realized that we were able to host many more vendors on the liberate lawn and that they were much more visible to traffic passing by, between this and the ability to set up fun lawn games during the event, the outdoor setup has been an overall improvement,” said Borgnis-Tobin
“In addition to our ongoing Book Sale, the library staff and board members will hold a bake sale during the Craft Fair to help raise funds for more exciting library programs,” said Borgnis-Tobin.
Borgnis-Tobin said there will be more than 20 local vendors at the fair this spring. There is still some space to Borins register for interested guests.
“We are excited to host many artists and makers that are local to Clinton and also welcome guests from neighboring communities. Shopping local is a great way to support our area’s economy and help small businesses grow,” said Borgnis-Tobin.
