Showing Sunflowers to Support Ukraine

As a show of support for Ukraine, artist Silvia Drewery's new painting of sunflowers over the blue and yellow of the Ukrainian flag is now on display at the BACA gallery in downtown Branford (see next photo).

Have you noticed a showing of sunflowers around town? Residents are wrapping them on mailbox and lamp posts, putting them in windows and other areas at their homes and businesses as a show of support for Ukraine, for which the sunflower is the national flower.

Recently, the BACA (Branford Arts and Cultural Alliance) Gallery at 1007 Main St. set up a string of sunflowers in the central showcase window to spot light BACA artist Silvia Drewery's new painting of sunflowers over the blue and yellow of the Ukrainian flag.

"Silvia Drewery created this poignant image as a tribute to the Ukrainian freedom fighters," said BACA founder Frank Carrano, who shared a photo of the painting with Zip06/The Sound.
