After a two-year pandemic break, Essex Go Bragh Irish Parade makes a return to Essex Village on Saturday, March 19. The parade steps off at 10 a.m. from Essex Town Hall, 29 West Avenue, before proceeding down Main Street.

Former Parks & Recreation Commission chair Bob Russo is the 2022 grand marshal. The parade is also dedicated in memory of Essex Parks & Recreation Commission member Virginia “Ginny” Willetts.

Park & Recreation Director Mary Ellen Barnes said in a Facebook post that dedicating the parade to Willetts was an ideal way to honor her memory. “We wanted to do something special, so we asked her family to join our Grand Marshal Bob Russo to lead the parade, Barnes wrote. “I think she would have liked that.”

Organizers are still seeking marchers for the parade. For more information, email recreation@essexct.gov or visit facebook.com/essexctgobragh.
