12/22/2021 11:00 PMEast Haven Police are investigating a one-car fatal motor vehicle accident that occured on Thursday, Dec. 23 shortly after 4 a.m..
According to police, a vehicle operated by a female driver was traveling eastbound on Foxon Road ar 4:16 a.m. when it lost control in the area of John and Maria's Restaurant, 280 Foxon Road, and struck the business sign. Upon arrival, the East Haven Fire Department extricated the driver from her vehicle and began life-saving measures. The driver was immediately transported to Yale New Haven Hospital but later died from her injuries.
The road remained closed for several hours while the South Central Connecticut Traffic Unit processed the scene. The roadway has since re-opened.
Police are withholding the driver's name until next of kin can be notified.
