Clinton Selects Town Council Members and More on Nov. 2


With election day on Tuesday, Nov. 2, Clinton voters are gearing up to make their voices heard. The Harbor News has a sample ballot as well as a round up of all the races.

All Clinton voters can vote at the Andrews Memorial Town Hall. Polls at are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. For questions concerning registration status and polling place, call the Registrars of Voters at 860-669-6436.

In addition to voting in person, all voters are allowed to vote by mail again this year due to COVID. Contact the Town Clerk’s Office 860-669-9101 at for details.

The Races

The first race on the ballot is the one for the three open seats on the Town Council. Voters can elect up to three of Democrats Carrie Allen, Paul Gebauer, and Chris Passante; Republican Tom Hollinger; and Green Party Eric Bergman. All elected will serve a four-year term.

For the Board of Education, voters can choose up to four candidates. There are four open seats, but not more than two from one party will be elected. The candidates are Republicans Mike Hornyak and Peter Nye, Democrats Erica Gelven and Jack Scherban, and Green Party candidate Jason Feeney.

For the Board of Police Commissioners, voters can choose up to three candidates. The candidates are: Green Party member Phil Sengle, Democrats Lynn Hidek and Ed Tessman, and Republicans Wayne Buchanan, Dom Morelli, and John Harrington.

For the Planning & Zoning Commission full seats, voters can choose up to five candidates. The candidates are Republicans Mike Florio, Mike Knudsen, and Walter Beau Clark; Green Party candidate Tania Abbatello; and Democrats Will Benoit, Ellen Dahlgren, and Michael Rossi.

For the Planning & Zoning Commission alternate seats, the candidates are Democrat Jay S. Mandell and Republicans Jim King and Brendan Saunders. Voters can choose up to two.

For the Board of Assessment Appeals the voters can choose one of Green Party candidate John Escobales, Democrat Alyson Roberts, and Republican Joe Alves.

For the Zoning Board of Appeals full seat, voters can choose up to three candidates. The candidates are Democrats Laurie Jaffe and Bertram Schmitz, Republican Dennis Irmscher, and Green Party candidate Hugh Birdsall.

For the Zoning Board of Appeals alternate seat, voters can choose up to two of Democrat Tom Shultz and Republican Dylan Walter.
