North Branford Community Food Drive Oct. 23; 'Gift-ober' Underway

Organizers of the 32nd annual North Branford Public Schools (NBPS) Community Round Up food drive, set for Sat. Oct 23, have also been encouraging the community to help stretch Make a Difference Day into Make a Difference Month with "Gift-ober," a month-long effort to collect donations of supermarket gift cards or cash gift cards that will be given to non-profit Food Pantry of North Branford (FPNB).

"Now, more than ever before, we need to be aware of people experiencing food insecurity. We need to pull together to support each other and come together as one neighborhood and one community," organizers noted, on a promotional flyer distributed by NBPS. "Even though we are socially distanced, we are united in heart."

Gift-ober gift card donations can be delivered, throughout the month, to donation boxes located in the main lobby of North Branford Intermediate School, 654 Foxon Road. Donations will be given to FPNB at the end of the month.

Residents are also encouraged to participate in the 32nd annual community food donation round up by placing bags of canned goods and other non-perishable food items, as well as personal hygeine items, by mailboxes for collection on Sat. Oct. 23 (please check all food expiration dates).

Beginning at 8:30 a.m., student teams which begin collecting the donated items, which will be delivered to be tallied at North Branford Intermediate School. NBPS provides prizes for the top three teams with the most donations.
