Branford GOP: Candidate Banner Cut, Vandalized on East Main St.

A new report of a vandalized political sign in Branford involves a significant segment cut from a photo portrait on a large banner promoting Republican candidate for Town Treasurer Deborah Conklin on East Main Street.Photo from Branford Republican Committee

After apparant vandals caused a spate of damage to both Democratic and Republican political lawn signs posted in an area of Short Beach earlier this week (see related stories), another Branford campaign sign has been noticably damaged and defaced in another part of town. Unlike the red paint or marker defacing signs in Short Beach, the newly-discovered damage involved cutting out a significant segment of a photo portrait on a large banner promoting Republican candidate for Town Treasurer Deborah Conklin.

Branford Republican Town Committee chair Ray Ingraham said the damage was discovered today and shared a photo of the sign, which has been located beside Route 1 in the 300 block of East Main Street.

The cost of signs destroyed by vandals adds up, Ingraham said, noting it's "...really too bad this continues, it's costly and not a good look for Branford."
