Republican Primary for Guilford BOE Candidates is Sept. 14

Registered Republicans can go to the polls on Tuesday, Sept. 14 to choose their preferred candidates for Board of Education (BOE) in the Nov. 2 municipal elections. The primary sets five political newcomers who swept the Republican Town Committee caucus on July 22 against three incumbent BOE members and two additional veteran Republican candidates.

Th candidates who won the Republican endorsement on July 22 under the Truth in Education banner are campaigning against what they say is the teaching of Critical Race Theory (CRT) in Guilford. The candidates are now running as Parents for Guilford Students.

The candidates who successfully petitioned to call the primary are running under the Republicans for Education banner and have described the CRT issue as a false narrative and want to work to continue Guilford schools’ current work.

The candidates endorsed on July 22 are Timothy E. Chamberlain, Nick Cusano, Bill Maisano, Aly Passarelli, and Danielle Scarpellino.

The challengers are incumbents Joseph Golino, Ted Sands, and Amy Sullivan and Bill Mulligan and James F. O’Keefe.

Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the town’s five polling places.
