Westbrook GOP Announces Candidates for November Elections

The Westbrook Republican Town Committee (RTC) has announced its slate of candidates for the upcoming November election. The slate is led by incumbent Selectman John Hall for first selectman and Joe Campbell to serve on the Board of Selectman.

Each election year the town’s major parties hold caucuses in July to form a list of candidates for the ballot in November. At those caucuses the party formally nominates and endorses candidates for each seat that is up for grabs.

With the nominations in, it is guaranteed that for the first time in nearly 15 years Westbrook is going to have new leadership. Last month current First Selectman Noel Bishop announced he would not seek an eighth term as First Selectman.

Not only will there be a new first selectman in town, there will also be new members on the Board of Selectman. John Hall is the only endorsed candidate who is currently on the board.

Should any member of the major parties want to force a primary election of an endorsed candidate, primary forms must be filled out by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 11.

The Democratic Town Committee nominees were shared with the Harbor News earlier this month. That list can be viewed here.
