Guilford Police Investigating Homicide Near Lake Quonnipaug

The Guilford Police Department (GPD) is currently investigating a homicide, the first in Guilford in about 21 years, after discovering a woman "suffering obvious injuries" at her home in the Quonnipaug Hills condominiums following a welfare check, with the cause of death determined to be blunt force trauma, according to GPD Chief Butch Hyatt.

Guilford Fire Department pronounced the victim deceased at the scene, according to a GPD press release.

GPD identified the victim as 43 year-old Lindsey Hopkins.

State police and GPD detectives have been working on the case since receiving a call yesterday morning at around 10:30 a.m for a welfare check at 61 Mohawk Trail, according to Hyatt.

There are no suspects or leads at this point, Hyatt said, and no danger to the public in that area.

Both GPD detectives and state police have been going door-to-door in the area attempting to gather information, Hyatt said. GPD has been leading the investigation assisted by state police resources, according to Hyatt.

A timeline has not yet been established as far as time of death or other details around the homicide, Hyatt said, but is continuing to solicit any information from the public.

"We're trying to lock that time down," he said.

Hyatt also urged anyone with pertinent information to contact GPD at 203-453-8061.
