06/15/2021 12:00 AMThe Essex Garden Club is pleased to announce that the recipient of its 2021 college scholarship is Nathaniel Hill. This scholarship is awarded to a student enrolling in a college program to pursue studies related to the environment. Hill, a 2021 graduate of Valley Regional High School, will be attending The University of Vermont’s Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources.
In addition, the garden club will provide scholarships to help 54 children from the Essex communities attend area environmental camps. These camp programs are offered by the Essex Parks and Recreation Department and The Incarnation Center.
The proceeds from the club’s annual May Market make these scholarships possible. This year, due to COVID restrictions, the scaled-back May flower sale and generous donations received provided much of the funding. The club thanks all who supported this endeavor.
