Help Recognize the Beacons in Your Community

“In every community, there is work to be done. In every nation, there are wounds to heal. In every heart, there is power to do it.” Marianne Williamson

For the ninth consecutive year, Shore Publishing will continue to hold up a spotlight to our neighbors in the community. Over the past years, we have celebrated more than 100 special individuals who have contributed so much of themselves to help make our communities the remarkable places we know and love.

And it’s that word “remarkable” that is one of the most apt descriptors of past recipients of the Beacon Awards. We’ve been incredibly fortunate to stand witness to the selfless acts committed by our very own thoughtful, committed, and local volunteers. We celebrate these individuals each year at the Beacon Awards Gala.

We are extremely grateful to every past Beacon winner for making our communities a more prodigious place to live, work, and play. Our hats are also off to the many businesses that have sponsored our Beacon Awards, making them possible.

COVID-19 shaped the last year in ways no one could have foreseen. We were unable to host our in-person gala, instead we honored our winners virtually. Now that pandemic-related restrictions are beginning to be lifted and vaccinations are widespread, however, we are filled with optimism we will once again gather to celebrate and honor the Beacon Awards Class of 2021.

If the past year has taught us anything, it is that we need each other. The traumas and anxieties of living in lockdown have reminded us that human contact and help is precious and necessary. There are many local residents who went above and beyond to help their neighbors during a very frightening time in history.

As we gear up for the 2021 awards season, we’re excited to receive your nominations. You are the eyes and ears in our community, and we look forward to reading about all the special people who have made a difference in the past year and beyond. Please visit www.beaconawardsct.com and click on nominate at the top of the page to submit. Bragging is allowed!

Thank you to all of our past winners and nominees. We’re so pleased to be able to celebrate you and all you have done within our communities. The Beacon Awards are a success because of you.
