Police Increase DHHS Presence After Threat

A threat made by a Daniel Hand High School (DHHS) student resulted in an increased police presence at the school on Thursday and Friday, March 25 and 26, according to school officials.

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Craig Cooke wrote that the district was “trying to provide as normal of a day as possible” following the incident, and encouraged students to speak to guidance counselors or administrators if they had concerns.

“As I have stated, students and staff safety is our primary concern. Our continued strong partnership with Madison Police Department provides a safe environment for our students to learn in,” Cooke wrote.

On March 26, there were at least two police vehicles at the school: one unmarked car near the entrance and a cruiser near the west side of the campus, where an officer was also seen stationed at a doorway.
