Police: 27-Year-Old New Haven Resident Identified as Deceased Man Found on Branford Trail

At approximately 3 p.m. on Friday, March 5, Branford Police updated the public with more information regarding a body discovered by hikers on Thursday, March 4 along the Branford Trail in Stony Creek near the Guilford town line. 

Police said the individual was identified as a 27-year-old male New Haven resident. Police were also present for an autopsy March 5, performed by the CT Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, where the manner of death was ruled a suicide. 

The update was posted at the Branford Police Department Facebook page, where police also noted that, out of respect for family of the deceased, the identity of the deceased would not be released until family notifications are made.

Branford Police began informing the public of the incident with a  late afternoon report issued March 4 of heightened police activity in the area due to a body found in a marsh in Stony Creek. Early in the morning on March 5, police updated the public with information that the body was further identified as a deceased male, found by hikers just off the Branford Trail in Stony Creek near the Guilford town line at approximately 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 4. 

Branford Police and Fire departments responded initially on March 4. Branford Police detectives worked in conjunction with the CT State Police Major Crimes Division to process the scene and identify the individual.
