Vaccine Roll-out Extended to 65+

As of Feb. 11, those 65 years and older are eligible in Connecticut to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. Phase 1B extended vaccine eligibility to residents between 65 and 74 years of age. Appointments may be scheduled online via the Vaccine Administration Management System (VAMS), a Connecticut Department of Public Health site.

There are additional options for scheduling. Those who prefer to schedule over the phone can call the Connecticut Vaccine Appointment Assist Line.

According to Westbrook’s Health Department, vaccines are available at CVS in Waterford, Colchester, Putnam, and Windsor. Nutmeg Pharmacy, located in Centerbrook, Higganum, Moodus, and Taftville, is registering patients 65 and older, with priority given to those 75 and above. The pharmacies are now receiving 200 doses per week and those who register should expect to wait three to four weeks for an appointment, according to pharmacy employees.

The Westbrook Walgreens is not yet offering vaccines but will be in the coming weeks, according to Westbrook Health Director Zachary Faiella. Connecticut stores offering vaccines can be found at the website listed below.

While Walmart is included on the state’s list of providers, its website does not indicate that vaccines are available in Connecticut.

“Patience is key,” said Faiella.

The Westbrook Senior Center is willing to help those with questions or who are having difficulty registering themselves.
