Clinton Town Website Gets a Refresh

Back with a new look: In an effort to be more efficient and user-friendly, the Town of Clinton website clintonct.org has undergone a free redesign and is now live. It is the latest move in Clinton’s efforts to increase the communication between the town and the public.

For several months during 2020, the town had worked on a redesign of the town’s website. In the past, residents had sometimes complained at town meetings that the old layout of the website was confusing to navigate, sometimes had outdated information, and didn’t look appealing. In mid-December, changes to the website went live.

Besides a new look, the site now features more information in centralized locations such as an FAQ page, information on permits needed for home renovations or recreation, and links that contact interest parties with resources on doing business in town or services offered by the Park & Recreation Department. Updated information on boards and commissions are also available in easy to find tabs at the top of the page.

The new changes were briefly discussed during a Dec. 16 2020 Town Council meeting. At the meeting, Council Chairman Chris Aniskovich praised the new design and called the upgrades “more user friendly.”

“I think [executive assistant] Mary [Schettino] has done a wonderful job and it’s a little more user friendly and more beneficial to people in town,” Aniskovich said during the meeting.

A Facebook post on the town’s official Facebook page announcing the new site stated, “These upgrades came at no additional cost as the redesign was included in the original cost of hosting the site.”

The redesign of the site is the latest step taken by the council to increase communication between the town and public. Last winter the council announced it would make a conscious effort to use the town’s Facebook page more regularly as way to connect with residents who may not be regular attending meetings or looking for information on the town website.

“It should be the first-place people go to find out that the power is out or what to do in a storm,” council member Carol Walter said at the time.

Since then, the town’s Facebook page has been regularly updated multiple times per week with relevant information on topics ranging from storm warnings, updates about the COVID-19 positivity rate in Clinton, and statements from the Town Council about town affairs.
