Appreciating Madison’s Lights—and Those Who Lit Them

The Madison Chamber of Commerce hopes that everyone has had the opportunity to enjoy the gorgeous lights in downtown Madison this holiday season. In case you haven’t, be sure to head there before they are turned off at the end of January.

This project was the brainchild of the Madison Economic Development Commission, whose members were tenacious in pursuing professional installation of lights to brighten both the downtown trees and peoples’ spirits during the darkest time of the year. With the approval of the Board of Selectmen, they were able to steer unused tourism funding to this project.

In addition to the town’s generous financial input, several local businesses stepped up to the plate. The Madison Beach Hotel generously sponsored all of the exterior lighting for the Scranton Library, beautifully highlighting the newly expanded and reopened building. In addition to “downtown proper,” the Scranton parking lot gazebo was also lit up thanks to the generosity of the Madison Jaycees, The Ed Riley Family, William Raveis Real Estate, and the Madison Garden Club.

Several individual businesses also joined in the lighting effort throughout town, and homeowners went above any beyond this season to brighten our spirits.

Let’s hope that the town is able to continue this wonderful light display every year and continue to bring joy to all.
