11/11/2020 11:00 PMThe COVID-19 pandemic has had a terrible impact on our Clinton and shoreline community, on our state, nation, and world. Regretfully, we have canceled this year’s Community Thanksgiving Service. Through this ecumenical celebration, our churches have offered our thanks to God in praise, prayer, and song. But even though we will not celebrate this annual tradition together, we continue to offer our respective limited in-person and virtual worship services as well as our care, counseling, and outreach. We offer heartfelt and prayerful support to those in grief at the loss of loved ones, who are in ill health, who are without work and income, and who experience great anxiety and fear about this ordeal.
While we are limited in our gathering together this year, our Thanksgiving to God certainly is not. It is good to give thanks to the Lord! (Psalm 92:1) Our gratitude to God should be alive and well for our lives, families, friends, and neighbors, good health and healing, the beauty and the bounty of the harvest season, shelter and warmth, and our nation and the freedoms we enjoy. And so should our responsibility to help and serve others.
As residents experience their thankfulness for their blessings, we invite them to share them by making financial contributions and gifts of food to the Clinton Food Pantry of the Shoreline Soup Kitchens & Pantries (SSKP) and/or to Families Helping Families (FHF).
