Doors on Display Nov. 7-8 Downtown as 'Symbolic Reopening of Our Community'

Talk about opening doors--  non-profit Branford Arts & Cultural Alliance (BACA) is calling on all community members to help create "The Painted Doors of Branford," to fill a unique cultural arts event celebrating downtown Branford on Saturday, Nov. 8 and Sunday, November 7.

In its invitation to participate, BACA states "The Painted Doors of Branford" two-day installation in November will serve to provide a "symbolic reawakening of downtown Branford" together with "... an opportunity to bring our community together to celebrate the things that we love about Branford." BACA invites all "... artists, budding artists, amateur artists and families and groups" to join in.

BACA is also seeking sponsors for this event, with all sponsorships going to support BACA's Branford High School student scholarship program. Sponsorships are $250 (including door) and $500 (door and artist available, if needed).

Individual participants can sign up for a $35 entry fee. BACA will supply each artist or group with a life-sized door, primed and ready to paint or to be dressed with artistic mediums such as collage, mixed media, sculpture and photography.

BACA event organizers note each uniquely decorated door will be a "...reflection of our support for our town. Everyone can and should participate in some way."
