09/11/2020 12:00 AMEast Haven Police have arrested two men in connection with the robbery of a People's United Bank on Sept. 9.
According to a press release from the East Haven Police Department, a teller at the People's United Bank tripped a silent alarm at 1:42 p.m. on Sept. 9. A male suspect entered the bank within the Stop and Shop on Hemingway Avenue and demanded money from a teller. The man, later identified as Timothy Foye, 32, of New Haven, then fled with the bank with an excess of $4,000 and entered a red Ford F-150 pickup truck that was waiting in the area of 55 Messina Drive. The driver of the vehicle was later identified as John Thomas, 47, of Meriden.
Surveillance photos of both suspects were disseminated via local media and social media. After receiving numerous tips and developing information regarding the identity of both suspects, they were taken into custody without issue following a motor vehicle stop on the suspect vehicle during the early morning hours of Sept. 10. A large amount of cash, as well as drug paraphernalia, was seized and the suspects were taken into custody.
Thomas and Foye were transported to the East Haven Police Department and processed. They were both charged with robbery in the second degree, conspiracy to commit robbery in the second degree, larceny in the second degree, and conspiracy to commit larceny in the second degree.
They were each held on a $50,000 bond and were scheduled to face a judge on Sept. 11 in New Haven.
