Branford's Blackstone Library Reopens Sept. 14 for Limited Browsing and Quiet Study

Sept. 10, 2020: If you've been missing the experience of browsing the Blackstone Library's bookshelves in person, there is good news: beginning Monday, September 14, the library will re-open for limited browsing and quiet study sessions.

The library will offer 30-minute appointments for browsing books and DVDs in the adult, children's, and teen areas. The library will also offer hour-long appointments for quiet study and reading in the Mezzanine and Reading Room.

You can make an appointment by calling 203-488-1441 x318. If you only wish to visit the children's or teen areas, please call 203-488-1441 x321. You may also book an appointment online by visiting blackstonelibrary.org to access the online reservation system. You can make appointments up to a day in advance, and walk-ins will be accepted whenever possible.

The library will continue to offer contactless pickup of items and computer lab appointments. You may also utilize the library's print-from-home service. Be sure to take advantage of the rich array of resources the library offers online, including thousands of eBooks, eAudiobooks, and eMovies, as well as language learning and research tools for school, home, and business. Please visit the website at blackstonelibrary.org or call 203-488-1441 x318 for more information.

If you have an appointment, please wait outside of the library until 5 minutes prior to your scheduled time slot. Upon entering the building, you will be checked in at the lobby desk. Masks will be required to be worn while inside the library, and hand sanitizer will be available upon entering the building and computer lab. No food or drink are allowed inside the library, and the water fountain and restrooms will be unavailable.

All new requirements and procedures are in accordance with the State of Connecticut's guidelines for reopening, including increased cleaning procedures for computers and other high-touch areas. Returned materials will continue to be quarantined before being checked-in and returned to the shelves. Overdue fines are not being charged during this time. However, fees for lost or damaged items will still apply.

Staff at the Blackstone Library have been planning and preparing for this next phase of safely reopening to you, and are looking forward to seeing you in the stacks again.
